A Pornstar Martini is one of the nation's favourite cocktails. It's got a distinctive taste of passionfruit and always comprises a vodka or vanilla vodka base. Despite its name, the Pornstar Martini doesn't actually contain any Vermouth (which is typically also used as the base for a Martini drink). Other key ingredients in this classic cocktail include passionfruit juice (or liqueur) and lime juice. Douglas Ankrah invented the drink in 1999, with the original name of 'Maverick Martini'. Although the drink was an instant success the name wasn't popular and he soon adapted it to the Pornstar Martini as he felt it was a drink any pornstar would enjoy. The new, sassier name helped elevate the drink further and it's now one of the most popular cocktails in the UK.
It may sound strange, but a little Prosecco makes for the perfect accompaniment to a Pornstar Martini.
